For Mr. Pettine's Modern World Students to share material, thoughts, and resources on World War Two.
I totally agree with you Christina, I think that this poster then relates to the concept of "Total War" where you do everything to support the war effort.
ReplyDeleteIn this poster, is riding a car with Hitler supposedly a good thing or a bad thing? Because if you don't car pool then Hitler will sit next to you which is a pretty scary thought. So in this case Hitler is bad because if you don't want him in your car, you should car-pool. Right?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Adisa because at the time, people were scared of Hitler and they probably didn't want Hitler sitting next to them.I think that this poster is telling you to car pool so that Hitler can't sit next to you. I think that this poster is going against Hitler.
ReplyDeleteWell, Adisa's comment pretty much summed up what I thought too. Satirical or not, I'm sure this poster is going against Hitler.
ReplyDeleteWhoever wanted to inject fear into people's minds created this propaganda so that they will reduce the usage of cars in order to put more effort into war instead. By portraying Hitler's ghastly presence around individuals, this propaganda promotes people to travel in groups and stay together so that they can get rid of Hitler altogether.
ReplyDeleteIs the propaganda saying that the less fuel and car parts being used by civilians, the more can be put towards war efforts?
ReplyDeleteI think that this propaganda poster is portraying Hitler as the "When you drink and drive, the reaper is by your side" idea in the modern day. So it will promote civilians to carpool helping out others and therefore saving fuel which instead could be used as a benefit of war, and also promote the idea that when there is many supporters, Hitler wont stand a chance.
