what does the quote mean?
ReplyDeletethe full quote was "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few" which I think means that the British empire depends on the lives of the pilots who was fighting in the Battle of Britain
ReplyDeleteI would write a POV statement here to impress the teacher.
ReplyDeleteThis quote was a part of a speech given on August 20, 1940 by the Prime Minster of UK, WInston Churchill, the speech was given when Britain was preparing war with German as an inspiration, Churchill wanted to say that even though we have lost most of our previous battles, things are still going great for us.
ReplyDeleteHe was right, things began to turn around for the Allies.
I think that this quote by Winston Churchill was saying the there never have been so much responsibility owed against so many by so few, depicting the RAFs as heroes to Britain's citizens, because they are only a little of them and their mission is to defend the nation form a army of enemies, therefore also promoting the idea of "numbers can make a deference" and have more volunteers to join the air force.
